Conference – Workshop

Intercultural Europe and the promotion of the significance of traditional games and sports will be in the centre of the international conference which will be carried out in December in Kavala from the lead partner, the Municipal Public Benefit Organisation of Kavala, with the participation of scientists from Greece and the countries of the project’s partners.

The main goal of the conference was the interdisciplinary approach and connection of traditional and ancient sports with philosophy, sociology, folklore, psychology, education, arts, physical education and economy.

Traditional sports and games are the leverage for creative involvement and connection with anthropographic elements of each partner country, and their recording, preservation and diffusion of these elements consists one of the main criteria of organising the international conference.

Among the participants of the conference were academics, authors, social scientists and researchers, as well as people from traditional sport and game preservation and promotion communities. In addition, a discussion will be attempted with representatives of education, NGOs and volunteer groups.

Additionally, the conference will be accompanied by workshops which aim at the experiential approach of traditional sports and games, the connection of sports with children’s emotional development, the incorporation of research methods and they will also try to lead to new and effective reference approaches.

Participation in the conference is free. Those who will attend it will be provided with participation certificates at the end of the conference.
